Just took the boat up to the mountains. Home is 32 ft above sea level, the lake I went to is 5500ft above sea level. Well, the boat ran, but not nearly as good as at home. I always hear about "You need to adj it for the altitude", however I never had to do it with ANY of the caberated cars I have owned. Whats the deal?

Re: Carb adj for altitude?

Any adjustments you would do to the carb, would only be idle speed and mixture adjustments. Nothing for running. Most people find re-propping for higher altitude does more good than anything else for short turn trips. If you spent the majority of time at higher altitude, you would probably change gear ratio and possible the hi speed jets in the carb. But that's a bit excessive for an occasional use.
