well i got my motor all rebuilt new mains and rod bearing new piston and rings 1979 omc chevy 3.0L inline 4 cylinder 140hp!!
so i went to pressure test everything i could and all was fine till i got to the exhaust!!
there is a heat tube in the intake / exhaust manifold about in the middle next to the head this tube goes from the top of the manifold to the bottom then a tube slides into the one and the threads onto the heat chock on the carb!
well when i pressure tested the exhaust part of the manifold air leaked out of that tube
my question is do i need to replace that heat tube ans reflair it to seal it in the manifold or do i have a cracked manifold??
But i do not think it is cracked more likely that tube rusted apart in the middle!!!!
any one have a better reason or fix???
at this point im betting on the tube as there is no air pressure leaks else were

thanks Bill

Ayuh,... If ya need the choke stove for the carb's choke, ya gotta Fix it...

If ya use an electric choke, it can be plugged off...

Re: carb choke heat tube in manifold help please

i think maybe i miss lead in my words the pipe i am trying to say is the stainless steel tube that goes through the manifold and is flaired at both ends then the tube from the carb choke slides into the stainless steel tube in the manifold!! it is the stainless steel tube the is or goes from the top of the maifold to the bottom if the manifold in the middle exhaust port this is the part i need i would like to get a stock part
but i will buy some stainless steel tubeing and flair the ends myself!!! the stove pipe from the carb choke i have is still good

oh, ok
maybe you could just coat the carb tube with JB weld and slide it in to the manifold too.

NAPA sells a choke stove repair kit that may help you.
But sounds like you may have a bad manifold. Exhaust is not suspposed exit there it is just a place for the tube to heat up.
