I believe what he meant is that the caustic carb SOAK buckets will desolve the hard anodizing from both the inside and outside of carbs if left to soak more than 10 minutes. Then ANY water, (including the water absorbed within all alcohol aditive gasolines) will cause corrosion.

I prefer to use a very good spray solvent carb cleaner such as Wal-mart Super Tech Carb Cleaner. @ 1.25 a 12 oz can, cheapest I've found anywhere and one of the best solvents still available.

Many plastics are softened/desolved by solvents. My sears screwdrivers DO NOT LIKE the Super Tech, they melt and stick to anything that they touch.

Carb soaks if left very long will remove that nice yellowish, or silverish, factory color/finish from a carb, making it VERY suscepable to corrosion, inside and out, besides looking nasty in a short time, you will also lose idle quality and discover that it is time to clean it AGAIN!!!! And again, and again, and.........Rrrrrrrrrrrr

Trust me, I've made a LOT of mistakes. I'm sure there is one or two that I haven't (yet) but ........... I'm still just a kid. (And if you believe that I have this bridge for sale in Brooklyn, see).
