Carb Cleaning on Chrysler 45

Okay, I'm feeling sort of bold and saucy.

I just had success at my first carb cleaning/rebuild - a 80's model Ariens snowblower with a Tecumseh F3 diaphragm carb. Ordered the carb kit, disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and adjusted - works great.

Now, I have a 1967 Chrysler 45 outboard. Is this an easy carb to clean? Do they have carb kits for such an old beast? Any tips, step-by-step instructions, blow up diagrams, adjustments?

Thanks,
Van:cool:

The carb itself is dirt simple. They made this type carb forever with minor modifications from engine to engine.

Carb kits are available but why? There is one float, one cork bowl gasket and one inlet needle and seat. Unless the needle or seat is damaged, a good cleaning is all that is required.

I agree with Frank on this one. I had a 1970 55 Hp with about the same carb. Cleaned it and ran it for 5 years till i sold it. You might want to make sure the fuel pump is clean also. I cleaned the bowl and was still running the pump with factory parts until i sold it.
