I just ordered 6 carb kits for my engine. J225TLERK. Its been idling very poorly and was even stalling in gear. I took the carbs apart and cleaned them up and the stalling has gone away but it still idles very poorly. This evening we launched the boat and I fiddled with the idle mixture screws but never could get the roughness to go away, so I ordered the carb kits and I'm going to do it the right way like I should have in the first place. Now for my question, I know not to soak the plastic parts of the carbs in cleaner, do you guys soak the metal part that contains the butterflies and all the other little orifices. I did not clean the orifices before as it didn't dawn on me they were there. I discovered it after perusing the factory manual. I know there are welch plugs on the side but these did not appear to be included in the kit. Is it necessary to remove these to clean these passages or will a good soaking and compressed air blow out do the trick? If necessary to remove, where can I get them, I've looked all over the iboats website and haven't been able to locate them, is this something the dealer would have laying around?
