carb compatibility 87 to 94

Will the carb off of a 94Johnson 25hp fit my 87 Jonhnson 20hp?

You mean will it bolt up? Yes. So will a carb off of a 40 or 50 or 60 or a 70. Any carb that uses a 325092 mounting gasket will bolt on. Will it work? Yes. You may have to fool with linkages and fuel inlets etc. A different carb may or may not have the bracket for the pimer so youll have to remount that somewhere.<br /><br />Will it magically give it more hp? No.

Yeah,i realise there's more to it than just the carb swap.One thing i noticed that was different was the hole in the intake manifold for the 25 is circular and much larger than the keyhole shaped hole on my 20hp manifold.The auction i'm bidding on is for the carb and the intake manifold.I'm not sure if the 2 combined will give more hp,but since the price is right,i figure its worth a shot.
