Good eve!

I have a 10 HP Johnson (QD-18) that I have found the brass filter for finally, but do not have the threaded turn "wheel/screw/keeper" that holds it inside the glass bowl. Anyone know the part number for this. I have a repair manual, no parts manual. GREAT running motor, but haven't run it much without a filter in there. Rigged up an inline filter on the dual line tank to try it out a few yrs. back, getting it ready to use now and would like to have that part! Thanks in advance for a number or availability!

Re: Carb filter

FR would be the guy to ask. Check out this site though, they have many of the older parts for your 57 that are hard to find. Good luck.

You may also be able to find one at Twin City Outboard. They're on Google.

Re: Carb filter

I have the 57 parts manual in a pdf thanks to WBeaton. PM me and I'll send it to you.

The part is called, are you ready for this:

"Filter Yoke and Thumb Nut Assembly"
Part # 376231

And the brass filter element is # 303133 if you need it.

BTW, do you have the repair manual as a file that you could send?

Re: Carb filter

No Samo I do not. It is only the Seloc manual that my brother and I use for his 57 35 hp Johnson and the 10 hp. I also use it for my '71 Ev. 40 hp even though it goes up to 1970. I appreciate the info tho. When we got the 10, we also got another one that was froze up to use for parts ($10) and it didn't have one either! If I can help you with some parts tho, let me know and I'll see what I have.

Re: Carb filter

$10 for a seized 10hp is a great deal in my opinion ( I know my wife would differ though!) as there's tons of good parts on them... and the LU is valuable if in good shape.

Yeah the thing was laying on its back in a shed and the roof had rotted away! Man that thing was SEIZED!! I had to beat the lower unit off after getting the bolts out. The entire water pump was crumbs. Shift rod was corroded into, finally got the drive shaft out of the engine (still good) and the gear set looked good (as in dog clutch probs) so kept that and the drive shaft, other odds and ends and aluminum scrapped what was gone!

Re: Carb filter

Actually, I think you are looking for the piece that holds the filter element inside the bowl, not the yoke that holds the bowl on, right? The part that holds the filter element is part number 304539, simply called a "filter nut". If push comes to shove, that really wouldn't be a hard part to make.

Mid-year '56 and older ones used a slightly different kind, a plate with a screw through the center. Yours should have a stud in the carb that the filter nut screws onto. Either one will work with the proper attaching hardware.

Hmmm, FR, I think you're right. I just reread his post and re looked at my parts diagram. 304539 it is and mine just says "Nut".

Re: Carb filter

F R you are correct! I really didn't know what to call it, but it is the "rippled?" nut about the size of a dime that holds the filter inside of the bowl.

Samo, I just didn't know my terminology well enough. I appreciate all of the replies!
