Hi guys, in need of a carb for a Johnson 9.9 1977. Model 10EL77A. I checked all the usual stores. It’s my sons boat and he left 2019 gas in it.......now says won’t start. Think this is my best option as opposed to a rebuild even though I’m very familiar with LeRoy......😲

Why would you need to replace a carburetor ?-----Clean it, it is easy.-----What other trouble shooting was done , if any ?

Soak metal top and bottom of carb in lacquer thinner (or solvent of your choice). Leave linkages in place, but remove non-mental parts. Clean each orifice with soft metal wire, and spray with carb cleaner. Leave jets in place and soak with carb halves.

I can check spark and compression. Just trying to line up options. With unstabilized ethanol fuel I think the carb is the usual suspect when a motor sits over the winter. Or not cranking fast enough due to poor battery.

Will probably do this. Thank you.
