Hello All,

I just completed the rebuilding of both carbs. I have a 1989 Johnson 110HP VRO. I found myself workign extra hard scraping off the old gasket that is between the carb and th eintake manifold, it was tough to get out. Was there some sort of gasket sealer possibly used there? Should I apply any sort of sealer on the gasket between the carbs and the intake manifold when installing the new gasket?

Thanks,

JG

Re: Carb gasket question ....

JGRANAX,

I did my carbs this past weekend on my 88 SPL V-4 model# E88MSLCER. I did not put gasket sealer on any of my carb gaskets including the carb to intake area. How did you set your floats? I set my float level with the carb body float bowl gasket mounting area, that is with the carb upside down. I then pulled my boat outside the garage and cranked her and she ran great hopefully it is the same in the water when it warms up. Take care, Bob :)

Sounds like the previous owner used some gasket sealer. Those gaskets are supposed to go on dry.
