Greetings from Germany. I have an Evinrude 9.9 1982 model and have looked for years in the internet to find a carb to upgrade it to a 15hp. Recently I found one, bought it, had a huge hassle getting it through German customs and now that it is here I can not identify it. There is a tag on the carb bowel 395912 MX 13 C L. But stamped in the carb housing is the number 398275 or possibly 388275 the stamping is not very good to read. I think it came off a 1978 motor, but am not sure. Can anyone tell me if this is the carb for the 15hp or is it for the 9.9? Thanks for any input and have a great day.

Re: Carb Identification

Thanks Rick and Tashasdaddy for the help. I have known LeeRoy Wisner for years and in my opinion he is the real expert on these small motors. With his help and the link first sent I have been able to identify this as a 15hp carb that started in 1982. The Venturi is the proper inside diameter for the 15hp, but the convincing part is the main jet which is a #56 only used in the 15hp. Thanks again for your help.
