Carb intake gasket question

Hey everyone, I recently rebuilt the carb on my 1954 cd11, I was glancing at a rebuild procedure and noticed that they mentioned using 2 gaskets on the intake before placing on the carb, it mentioned that the other one was to act as a heat barrier, but in the diagram it shows one, and in my omc carb kit there is one that fits perfect, and another that would also work, so I'm just wondering if there should be two, thanks

Re: Carb intake gasket question

ive never heard of using two gaskets behind the carb . the extra gaskets are usually for different hp/model motors, as the kits are somewhat universal. hopefully someone will chime in on the "heat barrier" thing.

never heard of using two, but if you decide to do so I would make sure both are the correct size for your motor, if the opening is to small you basically are installing a restrictor plate.
