carb issue?

I was on the lake a few weeks back. Cruising probably 3/4 throttle and was running fine. Then a of a sudden the engine acts like I cut the throttle and starts losing rpm. I cut the throttle back, and it turns out it will run just at idle. Try to give it any more throttle and it will die. If you disengage the drive it will rev.

Almost seems like something let go? Timing weights maybe? Float?

Any thoughts are helpful. 3.0 merc tks. 2005 bayliner. Rebuilt the car last year and ran great all season.

Ayuh,.... Start with the fuel Filters, 'n see what they tell ya,....
