I have a force outboard 1988 50hp 507y8d, When at sealevel boat runs excellent, @ home 1500 ft elevation it runs good but not as good. I'm thinking it is jetting in carb, how do I know what size to get, bigger, smaller? Any input on this would be appreciated..

Re: Carb Jetting

I wasn't able to find any Force jet specs Except that the carb is a Tillotson WB stock jet is .084.Based on the Chryser 45 & 55 motors which are cousins and use the WB carb speaking generically as you go up in altitude you decrease the size about .002 for each change your .084 is apparently sea level to about 1200 ft.Again speaking generically 1200 to about 3200 ft would be about .082.you will probably need a factory manual or possibly your Merc dealer will have the specs to know exactly where you are at.You need to find the exact specs as running too lean would destroy your powerhead.Someone may be along with the proper Force specs here.

The Mercury site says the .084 jet is good up to 2500"
Then JET SIZE (.082) 2500-5000 FT.

I wouldn't expect any problem at 1500'.
