my 57 big twins carb needles need constant adjusting while boat is in gear, vibrations causing the knobs to turn back down so engine runs slow, drives me nuts is there any way to stop this from happening

ya i have same problem. if its just the needles coming out then you need to tighten the outside sleeve that will crush the packing more or you need to replace the packing. My problem was the sleeves themselves were coming out. The threads on the carb wear so i just put a dab of automotive silicone (gas safe) on the top threads to make sure none went tinto carb and gum it up, adjusted the tension on the packing and away I went. Yes I know silicone any of that ****e is no good for carb but its either that or buying a new/used carb with good threads.

Most times, new packing washers do the trick...sometimes a replacement carb is needed when someone else cranked down too hard on the sleeves, ruining the threads in the carb casting.
