Carb Leaking Fuel Out the Top

Hi Guys,
I have a friend with a 60HP Suzuki (DT60 I believe). I am about to try to fix his carb issue for him.
He tells me that last year it would crank right up, but fuel was squirting out of one of the two holes in the top of the carb as viewed from the side. The holes are located beneath the pilot jet, which sets above and in between both of these small holes. (I tried uploading a picture but couldn't get it to work.)

Any idea why this would be?? He said it runs, but fuel constantly squirts out.

Stuck needle, time to rebuild the carbs ....

I agree.
If float cannot seat the needle and shut off the flow of fuel the fuel will come out of the vent

Thanks so much guys! So, is it easier to replace the needle and seat, or just soak and clean it?? Its been many years since I fooled with a needle and seat.

Just clean, no need to replace, soak overnight in carb cleaner and blow out with compressed air ....

be very careful if you soak a soft needle tip, the soak may harm it.
Could be just trash in it keeping it from sealing.

or there could be a problem with float

Ok Guys,
I pulled the carbs the other day and started breaking them down for a good soak earlier. One tiny problem......when removing the nut for the seat, once it broke free, it hit the post that holds the float, and it sheared off completely!

Wow...talk about I wasn't expecting that one!!!!!

I think my carb cleaning for my friend just got really expensive for me!!!

ok, so is it a whole carb I am now in the market for, or, do they just sell the body??
