Got a question for the I6 carb guru's.
I just cleaned and rebuilt my carbs on my 73 1500 and when reinstalling I was checking to make sure all 3 carbs were opening all the way.Got the top at wot and went to the middle carb and adjusted and then did the bottom. They all were at wot,but when I backed off the throttle the 2 bottom throttle plates wouldn't seat.Tried to adjust a few more times, but just can't seem to get closed throttle position and wot just right.
If the plates close properly and then I go to wot the middle plate is within 2-3 degrees of being wot and the bottom is within 4-5 degrees.
Is it possible that the plastic linkages between the carbs is just not strong enough anymore? Is there anything better to replace them with so all 3 will open all the way or is it even enough to worry about.
P.S.The 1500 is probably not enough power for the boat,so I'm just trying to make sure I'm getting all I can out of it.
