I'm looking at a new boat (1800 Lund Alaskan), the marina where I'm looking to buy will put a Evinrude, Mercury, or Yamaha on the boat. All 90hp two-strokes.

Here is my question, and it is aimed more so at the mechanics who watch this site.

Is the E-tec, or Optimax that much better than the Yamaha carb model.

Granted the carburetor is old school, and injection is new and modern. But will it serve me any better. The yamaha carburetor surely will be easier to work on, and parts a lot less than the fuel injected models.

I'll let you in on a little secret, I used to drag race big bore Kawasaki and Suzuki drag bikes. I rebuilt allot of carburetors and engines, and the parts were and still are cheap.

Bottom line this will be my last boat. I want to be able to service it 10-15 years from now.
