Re: carb needle valve

Wouldnt hurt to buy a manual for that motor, but I'll give you a little knowlege of what I know. I'm guessing that spring goes on over the needle to keep it somewhat seated.
I have just rebuilt my 2 carborators on my 75 70hp merc, and I'm going on the way mine was. Mine didnt have a spring, but had something similar. Whenever I had bought new floats, they came with a card showing how much to set my floats that was attaches to some hinge type thing, that was connected to the needle. It worked like a spring.
Meanwhile while someone can come up with a better answer, find a way to put that spring on that needle because that needle has to stay seated, not loose.

Re: carb needle valve

When i pump bulb, fuel comes out of hole in front of carb.Motor will crank but after running afew seconds it dies,i assume after fuel in bowl is burnt, does needle connect to float or does it work off of spring attached to needle valve
