somewhere on this forum i saw a procedure for winterizing a fuel system on a 4.3 vp with 2barrel carb by removing the gas line from boat fuel tank at the fuel filter and hooking a small gas tank with 2cycle oil with 5o/ 50 mix in it. would this be a proper preperation ? i couldn't locate the thread on this subject. thanks

I think you are remembering things wrong, there is a mixture and not even close to 50/50 for MPI engines (Fuel injected) used to fog the engine. On a carbed engine, just run the engine long enough to get fuel with fuel stabilizer added, into the filter and carb.
Here is the fuel mixture for MPI engines you probably remember. From both Merc and Volvo.

i don't know why i wrote 50/50 , i meant 50 to 1. so i'm guessing not to do this proceedure for a carb . could this prceedure harm a 2 barrel holley carb? thanks for pdf reply don.

That little bit of oil won't hurt anything in the carb, not sure if it helps anything. Might help on those little gears in an electric fuel pump. But it's not necessary.
