carb problem ?

well i got the right prop in and it planed quick but after 8 sec on plane the motor died came to idel and shot off...i tried staring it again by priming the bulb and pushing in the key hold for 3 sec and try to start, nothing.<br /><br />trolled back to dock with backup 15hp.<br /><br />at the dock i'm trying to start but it wont kick over, it would sounds like a backfire for a sec too...i'm off to do a few test i.e. take out plugs, look for spark anything else i need to look/do

Is the tank vent open and the connector connected correctly?<br />If you have spark try spraying fuel mix in the carb if she starts check fuel system from tank to carb.Repair,replace,clean as required.

thanks, i went back to the boat and it took the plugs out and clean them and it started up....<br /><br />now it was real dirty for about 1hr of run time on them total, new plugs.<br /><br />is there a way to have the carb run not as rich ?<br />its a 1983 200hp mercury...
