Actually my question applies to all carbs. How important is the little o ring gasket that goes in between the bowl and the jet standoff post in all carbs. It seems like a lot of carbs I open up this gasket is not in there.

Also need to know the beginning needle settings as I moved them when cleaning the carb. 62 10 hp Johnson

Thanks, Mettyfish

Not sure exactly what o-ring you're talkin about. Can you post a pic? Carbs vary quite a lot. Especially ones that old. Same for needle settings.:)

The boss gasket is VERY important, without it high speed flow can get messed up. I had a 18 hp in a month ago that didn`t have it, wouldn`t plane a boat, put it in and it flew after that. Try 1.5 turns on low speed, three quarter of a turn on the high.

On these motors everything is controlled from the bottom adjustment. There is an `outer ring` which has a link to the top needle (slow speed) the high speed is sitting at the end of the rod that is through the slow speed ring, this pic should clarify.

In my 1957 the gasket marked 57 was cork, I think . It broke in my hands. The replacement comes in the rebuild kit whichI got from Laing for about $25.
