OK With the help of guys here I have repaired the overheating problem I had on the Force 40HP motor I have. Made in 1994. I am now moving on to the carb. Before I remove it and tear it down and install the kit I have, I was just wondering if anyone has any good tips I should follow. I do have a Mercury Force manual for this motor and it has a good carb rebuild section in it, but reading it and doing it is two different things!

Just thought that someone who has done this might have some advice on things to watch out for.

I thank you for any advice.

Yea, don't do it!!!

Frank Acampora said it best -

"Carbs stick right out there and just like women's nipples, men feel a compulsion to play with them.

If someone took a hammer to the carbs, then it is time to rebuild. If the floats are crumbling or fuel soaked, causing the engine to run rich and/or flood, then it is time to rebuild. If the inlet needles are no longer sealing, causing the engine to flood, then it is time to rebuild. Otherwise, leave them alone."

I rebuilt mine by the book! and am now having all kinds of problems...
