I'm new to this forum. I boat on the Chesapeake Bay.

After searching the forum, the net, and site store it seems that there is not a carb kit for my 89 115ETLF. The motor is new to me and the previous owner mentioned that he had tried to adjust the carb to get it to idle "better." At that point I decided that I'd rebuild the carbs before splashing the boat.

I've rebuilt carbs on cars, the 4bbl on my 5.7 volvo penta, and many times on my old Ford 8N. My problem is that I can seem to find a kit. One vendor told me to give him a list of parts.

From my experience I'm guessing that I need:
all gaskets- with extra body gaskets for possible take downs in the future
air adjust screws - perhaps a couple to replace any that have been grooved
float needles and clips for all
New jets just in case (plan on cleaning old - welding tip cleaner & air)

Do I need new nozzles?
Other Parts?

What is the part# of the gasket between the carb and the engine?

I plan to:
Refill lower unit
Change Plugs
Rebuild carbs
Grease engine
Water pump
Fuel pump
Decarbonize and start using Ringfree
Pull prop and lubricate with disc brake grease......

Anything else?

Many thanks for any input.

Most Johnson/Evinrude carb kits will have a new float, needle and spring. New gaskets and o-rings where needed. They'll also have new plugs to replace the old ones that can be drilled out to clean off idle passages. You may need to go to a marina or marine repair shop to buy parts.

Call me cheap, but I recently pulled the carbs an my 1988 90hp for cleaning and reassembled them w/o new kits. The bowl gaskets fit into a recess and everything sealed back up nicely.

Thanks for the help! I think I found a source for carb kits. Will compare to quote for individual parts. Again, thanks!

The main parts you should need for that carb is the needle valve and bowl gasket.
