Carb rebuild kits, OEM or aftermarket?

Just like the title states, is it better to go with an OE rebuild kit or are the aftermarket ones any good for around $10-$15 less per carb?

This is for a 74 Evinrude 50hp, just in case that makes any difference.

Thanks Jason

I used a Sierra kit on my 59 Johnson 18HP, and it seems fine. It comes with ZERO documentation, so hopefully I would get it prior to disassembling the old one. That will allow you to identify where things go PRIOR to destroying the old ones.

Thanks for the reply guys, kink of what I thought too.

I do have one more question though, in the carb kit picture it show basically 3 gaskets and I only have two on my carbs. I've looked at the microfische and really can't figure where the 3rd one would go.
Here is my carb

And here is the carb kit.

I know one is for the bowl and the other goes between the carb and motor, just not sure were the one with the notched out lines goes.

Thanks J

they package these kits to fit many years and model, there are extra parts, i have never found a motor that uses that gasket. it's cheaper for them to do it this way. it is the correct kit.

see my instructions in the engine faq forum.
