Hello guys!
I am taking a software documentation class at college and one of the assignments is to create a manual of a non-technical nature. So naturally, I decided to create one on how to rebuild a carburetor :D . I was wondering if you guys would take a look at it, and verify that everything I have is accurate, and looks good. I had to keep it under 5 pages, so I left out removal of the welch plugs, but I could easly add it if you find it would be a useful how to on this website.
How to rebuild a Carb

Thanks again guys for your infinite wisdom!

Re: Carb rebuild manual

It is for 20 - 55hp. (it was right on the first page :p ) And this was off of a 1985 25hp. It was very similar to my 50hp carb. I did it more as a general guide, not as a "You must do it this way".

Re: Carb rebuild manual

Why would a Prof ask to develop a manual for a non-technical subject? If the subject is non-technical, would one need a manual? Carb rebuilds hardly fall into the non-technical area to some. What I see missing in this document is "Why" the rebuild was necessary and what to look for in the process. Disassembly and reassembly is not a rebuild -- its called R&R (remove & replace). Carbs are rebuilt because something is wrong. Generally parts are worn, passages are plugged, or both. So either the title needs to change or a short paragraph needs to be added to explain why you are doing this and what to look for in the process. You would not get high marks in my class because this is a copy of existing work (although I may be wrong). Thanks for coming here to get our thoughts. Validation "is college thinking". It may not always be what you want to hear but it shows you are serious about what you've presented. It's why writers hate editors but its a fact of life.
