Carb rebuild questions

I couldn't figure out how to get the high speed nozzle out that runs up the center of the float. I tried to turn it with a screwdriver but it didn't budge and I didn't want to break it.

Also, with the slow speed needle, it looks like the packing that goes around it is stuck on the threads inside of the carb body. I've tried to pick at it with some picks to no avail. Will this get softer after coming out of the parts cleaner bin? Thanks for the help

Soak it with some PB Blaster or other solvent and use a big screwdriver with a blade as wide as the slot on the nozzle. She'll come out. Those old packing nuts can be a pain to get out. A pick or an eyeglass screwdriver is what I use. Sometimes takes a while to pick them out. Try not to damage the surfaces in there.

Re: Carb rebuild questions

Ok, thanks for the info. Does the high speed needle absolutely have to come out or can I soak it with it in there there and blow it out real good? Also, can I rinse the carb with water after I take it out of the chem dip?
