Carb ???s

I Have a Mercruiser 5.0 ltr with a 2bbl carb, and was looking into the carb and found alot of what looks like carbon build up, can i spray a carb cleaner into the the carb to get me through the season or is there a gas additive that will clean it out?

If it is running good by all means
it is a normal maint of carbs to
spray cleaner on the butterflies, choke,
barrells, ect
