carb shaft side play, (wear)

I'm rebuilding the carbs on my '75 evinrude 50 and notice a lot of slop in the carb throttle shafts. is there a specific limit before it will upset idle a/f mixture. Thanks for any help! ****

There seems to be quite a bit of movement in those shafts. More than likely it will be fine. If it does not run properly after you rebuild the carburaters, it may be, but probably is not, the air leaking past the shaft.
To test this, spray grease or pack grease around shaft to seal out air from being pulled in. If your motor has a considerable change and runs better after this test, (meaning that indeed air is leaking by shafts) you may have to look for a solution. I may have a set of carbs that may fit if it comes down to that.
