1989 4.3l 2 barrel
23 years old. Runs good down the lake

Should I rebuild it this winter for prevenative maintance?
If I do buy a kit, would it come with instructions, or where would I get instructions

Last time I did a carb with help was around 1984 on a 1975 chevy pickup.:D

Thanks

If that 70's Chevy pickup had a two barrel carburetor and your boat has a Rochester 2 barrel you can do this. They didn't change much.

Thanks

I was wondering about, if it aint broke dont fix it. Just dont like the broke part.

I feel more confortable fixing a carb verses the lower bellows service. ;)

Hi Oshkosh, Why? The manual states to weigh the float and if it is within specs you can re-use it.

Why?
The same reason I don't file points down. Because I'm already "in" there, it's inexpensive, and then I KNOW it's new.

Also

The local "guru" told me to replace the plastic one with the brass regardless of age or appearance when I had mine apart, apparently the nitrophyl floats(specifcally the seams) don't like ethanol blended fuel. $7 isn't much to pay to do it right!

So many different views. Makes me more confused.
For the time being will just run a can of sea foam through the gas tank....

Going fishing in 10 min. Later

I'm an advocate for "If it ain't broke don't fix it". A person can most certainly fix it until it's broke. Don't be that guy.
