carb soaking

hello all,I have read on several posts about cleaning carbs and they all suggest soaking the carbs and then blowing them out.I would like to know if it is ok to soak plastic carbs in the bucket of carb cleaner sold at auto part stores.I haven't found any that don't say not to use for plastic parts and my carbs on my J140TLCDC are all plastic.Any input would be greatly appreciated.

OMC reccomened NOT soaking back in the late 60's early seventies. if I soak at all its strictly the metal bowls only never the body and its rare I soak them.<br /> on the plastic just use spray and when your done check the bowl gasket surfaces for warpage with a striaght edge.

Yes, thanks to him as well. BTW, rodbolt-the repair you looked at on Ridge today, made it better but still runs rough at WOT. It must be that Powerpack-if you have it, let me know and I'll run over and get it-It can't hurt<br /><br />BTW, thanks again-

I've soaked plastic carbs many times in Berryman Chemtool with zero adverse effects.

I've used Chemtool also, but avoid prolonged soaks. Works for me.
