Hello All,

I just rebuilt the fuel pump and now the carb is getting over filled and spilling gas via the little mouth in the front of the carb.

How can I control that. I tried to adjust the float but not luck.

The engine is not getting floated, it runs good, a bit smokey but it continues to runs, I just don't think is safe for the extra gas.

Can someone shed some light on me on how to fix this problem.

See pictures below.

Couple of explanations.

The float drop tab keeps the float from rubbing on the float bowl when the carb is empty of fuel, otherwise wearing a hole in the float.

The spring acts as a shock absorber, dampening the float movement so not to bounce too much at speed.

Now, as for the fuel leaking, since repairing the fuel pump you have improved the fuel pressure to the carb, restoring it to original. Leaking from the carb vent may be duplicated by squeezing the primer bulb, the engine should be near level. Carb flooding generally requires a new needle, seat also if it is the replaceable screw-in style.

I will be ordering a new carb kit, I wonder if it will come with a new needle, needle case and needle seal.

I should get the new parts by next Friday, will update then.

I took the boat today on the water for the first time, I was being powered by the trolling motor, what a blast, I loved this boat, can't wait to get the outboard running right...

Well,

I got the carb KIT today and it seems to have just about all the parts that needs to be replaced.

Koodos for those guys at www.discount-marine-parts.com

The kit they sent me has been sealed for 15yrs, it was packaged on 10/8/1993.

I could not even believe these people keep those parts around for this long.

I also got from them the service manual for this particular engine as well, I couldn't believe those books are still around either...

It is time to rumble, but I probably won't get to it until Friday or Saturday.

It is getting darker earlier now and when I get home I have to set time apart for the family before I can touch the boat or anything else... My little one now awaits for me with a huge smile and no teeth... Steals my heart

I will keep you guys updated.
