Hope you guys can help! My 79 70hp seahorse is spitting gas out of top carb when ideling and will also leak gas from inside the carb when extra pressure is put on the bulb. I have looked at the reeds as best i can and dont see any evidence of wear or malfunction. My first impression is that the needle and seat is not seating properly. Thanks for your input and advice.

Sounds like your first impression is right to me. I would dissasemble and clean the carb checking for any dirt in the bowl. Take care to count your screw turns for mixture and idle settings if you dis-assemble them . Check tip of needle with magnifying glass to see if worn. Check floats by submerging in water to see if any bubbles showing leaks. .......Just a few tips I learned.

Sounds like a float issue to me...either seat, needle, adjustment, or it has a hole in it and is not "floating."

compression on my 1979 'rude 70 is 121-120-120. anything upwards of 100 is ok, as long as you get less than 5 or 7% variance between the best & worst.

did you install new kits when you cleaned the carbs?

well the carbs and cleaned them and they looked as if the were recently rebuilt. However when i took them apart the second time after replacing all fuel lines under hood, i did replace the needle and seats in all 3 carbs (today) which seemed to lessen the bottom end bog. i figure it a link and sync at this point.?
