Carb swap

I have a 77 1150 that #6 piston took a dump, busted up the intake port and who knows what else. I inherited a 74 850 with good compression and spark but the carbs are trashed. Can I install 2 of the IL6 carbs on the 850? As far as I can tell the carbs are the same right down to the linkage except for the main jet. <br />Looks like 7/16 nuts holding the carbs but I can't get a wrench on them. Only tool I think may work is a universal socket. Am I heading in the right direction?

Maybe,but check to see if the carb bodies are the same.Bore could be different.<br /><br />Also,if you remove the nuts will the carb flanges clear the distributor and starter?Generaly these need to be removed first,then the nuts are no problem.<br /><br />DHP
