Hi I got a strange question .Maybe even a silly question.
I have a 1985 Johnson 150 HP and a 1998 Evinrude 150 Finch fuel inj. Intruder that has a rod bad on it.
Now will the fuel injection and fuel system work on a 1985 Johnson 150?
Will anything work off the 1998 work on it or should I just part out the Evinrude ?
Are the blocks the same?
My Johnson 150 someone remove the fuel pump system from it and put an car electric fuel pump .I do not have the mounting brackets or anything for the johnson 150 fuel pump..
Thank you Danny

It was the FICHT DFI system that broke the '97. Why in the world would you want to transfer it to another engine??

I really don't know why .I just have the injection motor here and just wondered if it was possible.
I have fuel injection on me car and it works super.

Re: Carb. to Fuel injection ??

What you have on your car engine is Electronic Fuel Injection, a very good system. What was in that 1997 FICHT engine is Direct Fuel Injection, an incompletely developed, much more complex system. . .one that many believe destroyed OMC. They are very different systems.

BRP has finished development of the FICHT system and current engines that use it (Evinrude ETEC) are very good and reliable, but in 1997 it was an unmitigated disaster. My Son In Law blew up two '97 FICHT engines before he went to a carbed 150. That engine is still giving great service.

I'm with the above 2 posts as well. One other thing though,
Get rid of the electric pump. It is a disaster waiting to happen.

Nothing will work or interchange except rods ,crossflow 150(85) and 60 degree looper(97)

Thanks one more question will any of the lower end work ? Say from the power head down to the prop.
Or should I just part it out on e-bay and use the money to fix my 1985 Johnson ? Thanks in advance. Danny

Lower unit will work but you will have to change driveshaft(lenght and splines cut different) and shift shaft rod.

I was wrong on the year of this motor .
It was built on 04/98 and it's a Evinrude 150 finch fuel injected intruder. Does this make a difference? Sorry I looke at it wrong. Danny

Yes install fuel inj. on a johnson carb. motor.

NO, NO, no. Do NOT. Very bad idea, and even if it was a good idea you are not equipped to try it.

You still can't even spell FICHT, for crying out loud.

Yes I can spell it but I am blind in one eye and sometimes I hit the wrong key , (Muscular Degeneration) It's hell when you get old. Sorry if I misspelled it.Besides one of the est mechanics I knew couldn't read or write. Have a Super Sunday. And Thank you.
