I have a 1962 10hp. evinrude I didn't check the needle valves position [ how far they were turned out] before I took them out to clean the carb. Can anybody help me out with that? I got it to crank up but I have to hold the choke out and keep the throttle wide open or it stalls . might have a bad fuel filter or trash still in the carb maybe? I don't remember where the needle valves were set but it fired up so it can' be far off i hope. I did check the fuel pump it looks like it is clean and working ok . I would be thankful for some help with this. thanks

Re: carb. trouble

Howdy, Taz.

Get a manual.

For starting point, gently seat both needles. Back out the lo speed about 1-1/4 turn and the hi speed needle about 1-1/2 turn. Once you have her running, fine tune for smooth idle and good torque UNDER LOAD.

Good luck. :)
