This is my first time trying to rebuild a carb and it has become a mission instead of just a project. So far I realized that West Marine is not a great place to shop for engine parts. Ordered carb repair kit, paid a fortune, installed it and it was crap. Found out that the float, while it looked almost exactly the same as the old one, it wasn't. Not sure where this kit was actually manufactured. Ordered a new float from iboats and ding ding ding, the thing actually sat parallel to the bottom (top) of the bowl.

The good news, engine is running much better with new float and gas is not blowing out of every possible crevice.

Bad news, I still have some gas leaking out of where the diaphragm is located on the bottom of the carb (Picture 1).

My new questions:

PICTURE 1 - My issue is there is still some gas coming out from where the diaphragm is located. Can this still be a float issue?
PICTURE 2 - I opened up this part and found the diaphragm is in shabby shape and probably needs replaced. Check out the picture - Do any of you agree I need a new one?
PICTURE 3 - Should I be able to push the diaphragm out like this? Or is this somehow supposed to be affixed to the plate? If so, how do you affix them, silicon, gasket grease, none of the above?
PICTURE 4 and 5 - Shows how by adjusting the throttle lever moves the diaphragm. It doesn't move the diaphragm very much so I am wondering if this could be an issue as well? How far should it move the diaphragm? Is there a measurement or rule of thumb

Thanks to all who have helped so far. I am soooo close.... I think...

Profile and serial#s need both.
#1 replace that part. It's shot.Replace the other diaphram too.
#2 That looks like it is a pump(like an accelerator pump on a car carb.
#3 it's held in place when the cover is put back on.
#4/5 looks like the diaphram is worn out and the spring that holds it might be compressed.
Always include serial#s when asking questions.J

Thank you ,
The serial number for the engine is 0t001062.
I should have probably just bought a new carb, but I love learning about engines.

bumrunner. Apperently you have not priced a new carb.
I have never seen a carb that can not be cleaned properly, and new gasket set properly installed.

Ok, parts are ordered. Now all that is left is wait for them to come and see what happens. I will post the results and I'm sure some new questions.

I DID IT!!!!!! I CANT BELIEVE IT @$#%%^&% WORKS! Parts came yesterday, put them in last night. Ordered diaphrams, springs, floats, gaskets, washers, filter, cleaned everything again, and put the carb back together. Said about 90000 prayers and fired her up!! No gas shooting out anywhere, running smoother than when I got it a couple years ago! Thanks you guys for helping me through this. I really really appreciate it.
