Carbon Buildup on only 1 bank?

Kinda a frankenmotor here, but a hybrid of a 79 and 82 v6 flatback crossflow. Story. #1 cylinder broke a ring using parts that interchange on a rebuild. I noticed while breaking down the bad motor that #1,3,6 pistons and exhaust housing/cover had far more carbon buildup than the other bank. Any certain cause? I don't want this motor following suit. Thanks!

Did you check the thermostats, poppet valves,\?
If stuck open they may cause oil fouling of pistons from cold running

My fault guys, it's 2,4,6 or if your looking at the heads the right bank looked pretty bad. Even the pistons were noticeably worse. Just curious what could cause this.

Cylinders 1,3,5 are on the starboard side of the mtr. If they were the ones carboned up real bad that was a problem with this mtr. If you didn't decarb the mtr regularly they would do that and cause piston failure.

I really didn't decarb it and everything other than the carbon buildup was spotless. In addition thats exactly what happened it broke a ring. I'll keep the rebuild motor decarbed regularly. Thanks a ton
