Carbs interchangeable?

Looking to rebuild a carb in my spare time for my merc 170/470, which is a mercarb 2bbl. Looks like that was used in other 4 cyl engines; would a carb from a 3.0L work? Specs seem like the main jet in the 3.0 is 1.45 mm v. 1.65 mm in the 3.7, and the power valve (not sure what that is) is 0.84 mm v. 0.9 mm. Can i buy these parts separately (if indeed they need to be changed)?

I wouldn't recommend it. There are other variables such as idle feed restrictions and air bleeds machined into the carb that cannot be changed. Far more to a carb than just the parts that screw into it. 'nutcase
