I'm rebuilding my '81 140hp that blew the rings in cyl.3 It's got the 5/16 throat carbs with the two jet cap screws on each side of the lower bowl. I'm having a hard time finding these exact ones (the top carb is physically damaged with hairline cracks). Would carbs from any early-mid '80s work as long as they fit the intake manifold ok? I've seen som '84 vintage carbs in good shape but they only have the one jet on the lower bowl but I'm thinking they would work...dunno.
Thanks.

Sets of Crossflow 115HP carburetors from 1985 through 1997 will work. Don't change the orifice sizes if you use them.

Don't want to bust your bubble, but the 115HP carburetors on the 1985 through 1997-98 crossflow are 1-5/16.

The horsepower rating was changed when the 140 crossflow was dropped and re-rated as a 115.

Don't wanna burst my bubble-back? Ahhhahahaha, good pun huh. Yeah I know they're not "really" 140, but hey, it'll be a "new" motor if I rebuild it so I don't really care anyways. I just want it to be reliable for the family. It pushes my 17.5 campion around good enough for me :) and I'll be able to sell the 90 I got cheap and fixed up that I'm using now to pay for repairs...

The 84 140 carbs should work fine. You don't need to worry that some carb bowls have one jet on a side, or two jets. The 84 carbs that have only the (main) jet on each side of the bowl-also have the same mid jets, but they are accessed by removing the bowl itself. Same difference.

Ok, sweet. I've also noticed on the carbs I have (exact same carbs on my 140 and 90 btw...1 5/16) that I don't have the recirc hose nipple at the top middle front between the throats like some do. Would this matter or should I look for this with later model carbs?
