I have a yamaha 40hp , 2 stroke, model 2004. When at idle, it was working for 2-3 min. and then stoped. When i tried to speed up the boat, it would not go very fast. When i pumbed gasoline, the gasoline was coming out from the lowest carburater. I opened up the carburaters, (my first experience with this ). the lowest of the 3 carburaters, had a cup with a lot of salt . An entrance valve was always open due to the salt. I cleaned them all 3 with a cloth and gasoline, and put them back on.
I have not tested the motor in the sea yet, but when i tried it on in the water barrel, still at idle works only for 2-3 minutes and then is off. I did not do any adjustments in any carburater. What else should i do?
Thanks for any help offered.

sounds like your carbs arent clean yet.... are you sure it was salt or was it dried gas?

here is a good place to start http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31

the carb cleaning instructions are at the top of the first page.
