Lower port side carburetor was spitting fuel out and engine not running well. I removed port side 3 carburetors and intake manifolds and rebuilt the carburetors. The idle adjustment screws was set three turns out to start. ( Star. Side is about 6 turns out)
after putting everything back together the engine started but spitting and coughing. I went to adjust the port side idle screws out but the engine stalled and would not start again.
Went back today and same thing. Engine started but stalled before adjustments could be made and then just wouldn't run. Short of finding a vacuum idle tool to use does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you check the reeds when the throttle
plate was off? (carb spitting)
All O-rings back in place?
Try setting mixture screws 5-6 turns open.
Did the choke, primer get turned on (red lever),
it would flood the motor, hard or no start.
Check spark when it won't start.
Check fuel for water.

Cajun, There is a specific initial mixture screw setting for that motor. It is likely more than 3 turns out, although I do not have my service manual in front of me (hint hint). I recommend you pick up a service manual.

Fuel has been checked.
Want to check spark when it won't start but need a second hand.
Tried all idle screws 5 turns out and it started today. Ran great for 1:30 then died.
Couldn't get it started again, I think it's flooded. Will go back after work tomorrow.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
I do have a manual and it has initial screw settings at 3 out.
