It got dark on me last night so I still have some testing to do, but thought I'd start a post on here. I have some fuel leaking I'm assuming somewhere from the carburetor. I'm pretty "Carburetor Dumb", as most of my vechicles have been fuel injected. The problem I'm having is I have no idea where this fuel is leaking from. It's on the side where my throttle cable hooks up. That's one problem I need to identify and remedy. I don't know if the carb has ever been rebuilt, and my guess is that it has not.
I also have some old gas in the tank, refilled only once last year and tank was more than half full when I did that. I use Stabil with Ethanol treatment in it but took off my fuel filter and it was a pretty dark yellow/orange color compared to fresh gas.

I just did my outdrive maintenance and changed the oil in the boat. It started right up and ran and idled fine up to temperature. I went inside for a couple hours, came back out and tried to start it. It started, ran really rough for a few seconds and died, could not get it started again. Looked like smoke was coming out of carb. Not sure where to start, I guess I'll see first if fuel is reaching the carb, then maybe check the plugs.
