I purchased a reman carburetor when I first tried to get the boat running at least but always had trouble with idle and running rich. I am posting a bunch of pictures for comparison between the two with hopes that someone could tell me if this is compatible with my 2.3, there aren't any numbers etc on the carb. (Black one is the reman)
Thanks,
Jim

If the replacement carburetor is an automotive and not marine it will not perform right. It has a high idle cam which is not what you want on a marine engine. There are venders that specialize in rebuilding Rochester carburetors. You can send in your old one for an exchange or they will rebuild your original one.

It is supposed to be a marine carb but with you mentioning about higher idle that was my issue plus without any identification on it really make me wonder what I actually received.

I installed the original carb with every new part possible and hopefully will test it very soon.
I took the rebuilt one that I purchased apart and it's totally different internally so I'm hopeful for positive results. I was totally green when I purchased it and I hope others don't fall for it.
The positive is between the choke stove and choke diaphragm assembly I really didn't lose alot considering some of the other parts from it are NLA.

I did some research and have come to find out that the place still advertises these carbs as marine but they are actually an automotive carburetor. You live and learn but I have many spare parts now 😊
