Help please. I've dissasembled and reassembled this carburetor a dozen times. The float level I had upside down the first time. Now I can't seem to get the correct level. I try setting it so that the float when body is held upside down is perfectly parallel to the gasket level. Doesn't seem to want to stay. I put it right side up and its about 1.2" hanging. ok so problem is pump the gas bulb and gas starts to leak out the carb opening. Try to start, and seems its flooded and coughs and won't start. So take apart again, and fuel is in the bowl. float seems to be getting stuck open. Even though It seems like its set right level every time I install. How do I adjust the float level. Do i just bend the tab attached to the float. Or am I supposed to play with the little tiny pin that sits on the top the needle and seat? need help. tired of putting it back together and taking it apart 12 times.

Sounds like you have a bad needle and seat or some crap floating around not letting it seal. Was this a new carb kit you installed ??

Thanks boobie and Admiral. It was a rebuild with the carb rebuild kit. new float, new needle and seat, new gasket. etc.

model J25ELECE 1998. I must be doing something wrong.

Bend the tab to adjust the float. If gas is running out and nothing is obstructing the needle, then try bending the float down a little from parallel. With the carb upside down, you'll actually be bending the float just slightly up from parallel. Reassemble. Then, with the carb righ-side-up, blow into the gas inlet. Air should pass. Turn the carb upside-down and blow - no air should pass.
