I am going to rebuild my carburetor this week, but have been told not to soak it in the cleaning solution because it will strip the paint. I was planning on repainting it with an epoxy paint after the rebuild was done. Is it really that important that the original finish be left on the body of the carburetor. I run in fresh water 95% of the time and brackish the other 5%.

Re: Carburetor

I soaked mine over night and it removed all of the paint. I didn't do anything to it and it's been fine for two years. Don't know if that's right, and it isn't purdy, but the rebuild did wonders and I don't have any corrosion or any other issues.
