Re: carburetor

Hello, I'm very new to boating, so I very well may be wrong. I know that these engines are basically car engines, but my maintenance manual for my boat said to make sure the carburetor rehaul kit I was looking for was a marine one. I'm not sure what the differences are, but there are apparently some differences. I hope this helps, and good luck.

Yes, there are differences - and those differences are there for safety factors. Instead of pointing out the various differences, (and I don't know all of them)... it is better to simply buy the right carb.

Re: carburetor

Fuel, ignition and electrical components must be marine rated. Thier automotive counterparts cause explosions.

Electrical parts have spark arrestors, fuel components have additional parts to deal with vapor permeation, and containing the eventual leaks. Unlike you car, the engine compartment in your boat is enclosed - not a place you want to combine sparks and fuel...
