I have a 1995 Mercury 150 Black Max with a carb. issue. I removed the bottom carb. because it wasn't allowing fuel to flow through. When I took the float bowl off I found the needle broke off in the seat and completely jammed by corrosion. I couldn't even blow it out with air pressure. I ordered a new needle and seat assy. and installed it. I noticed when I tighten the hold screw for the float rod it jammed the needle up against the float tab. The tab is not bent down causing this condition. I checked with Mercury to see if the parts house sent me the right part. They rechecked and said the part they gave me GLM0940 is a cross over from the Mercury part number 8116901. Other parts places say the same thing. Where do I go from here. Since the old needle was jammed down in the seat I'm wondering if this has been repaced before. Thanks

Re: Carburetor

Kenny, That is a strange story. You might look on the carb body to make sure the carb is the correct one for ypur motor. My Clymer manual says a 1995 Merc 150 should have a WMH-31 Carb. They changed over to the WMV-2 carb in 1996.

Also, the parts list shows a washer under the seat. Maybe if you remove it, the parts will fit.

Or you accidentally doubled up on the seat gaskets.

You've got 2 other carbs that are working. Compare numbers and even physical parts. Just be sure you don't mix things up and confuse yourself. At this point you should go through all 3 carbs and check everything with a jaundiced eye.
