I have a '96 Mariah that has Carling marine switches with square red lights in the rocker. The light in the switch for my docking lights is out, and I can't figure out how to replace the bulb. The switch rocker pops off, and I can get a hold of the bulb with needle nose pliers, but when it pulls up, there are wires attached to it, instead of having an actual bulb socket. Are the lights in these switches replacable? Or, do I need to buy a whole new switch to replace it with?

BTW, DON'T release the tabs that hold the two parts of the back of the switch together! There's small parts that fall out, become hard to find in a maze of wiring behind the stereo, and they're a PITA to get back together with those small parts lining up.......Don't ask me how I know all this!

You'll need to know more specifically which model Carling switch you have to be able to answer your question. Go here Carling Rocker Switches and find your switch then look at the details and specs for your switch. Good luck.

you can replace those bulbs if you know how to solder and if you can find a bulb good luck.

Thanks for the info! WOW, I didn't realize Carling made so many different switches. After seeing the detail in these switches, I think I'll just swap it with an unused accessory switch that the light works in. Much easier anyway!

Fwiw, Carling makes quality stuff. You could do a lot worse. You want to be sure the switch you will be using is rated for the amps of the load you will be putting thru it. Shouldn't be an issue, but check just to be sure.

I sell Carling switches through a 3rd party to distribution. Some are replaceable, some not. You may be just as well off to replace the whole switch IMHO.
