I bought a 16' dlx carolina skiff. It's a tiller with no center console. I want to instal switches for the bilge pump, sonar, anchor light, bow light, ect. I want it to be simple, waterproof, and out of the way. Any one have any suggestions on what to do? Where do I mount the stereo and sonar?

If you have a bench seat in the rear I might put them under the seat where you can reach down while at the tiller and maybe with a hinged or sliding cover.

Go to the nearest boat dealer and ask to see a tiller steered boat with instruments. There are some very nice setups with plexiglass covers that keep water off the electrics yet you can still see them. These mini-consoles are built into the side of the boat, normally on the port side. It would be very easy to build a box to mount this stuff in. Mounting under the seat makes it hard to get at and to be kicked or hit by stuff bouncing around.

there is a "sportsmans" model carolina skiff with the electrical controls you want--look online how it's rigged.

without a console, you are going to have to have something permanent to mount your electronics in or to. How about a small box similar to a side console on a jon boat, in front of your seat and against the side? Put your stereo in there in a watertight box, mount your screens on top, and switches on the back. give yo a little dry and secure storage, too.

Or a box behind your seat between it and the transom--but it's right wet back there.

Most C-skiffs I know don't bother with a bilge pump, you just pull the plug and run it out.
You can run your light wires under the outside of the gunwales, too.

If you don't ahve a bow deck I recommend one, factory made (it's an option). I guess that's where you put your speakers.

The beauty of the C Skiff is its versatility and that you can set it up any way you want.
