carpet adhesives

just finished my carpet 4days ago it rained yesterday "in the boat" and the carpet is loose. the water is loosening the glue! <br />i used indoor/outdoor carpet adhesive from lowes its been a week since i started this job and the empty adhesive can is still soft & rubbery. <br /><br />anybody have a good adhesive to use for this?

catfish<br /><br />Did my re-carpet a couple of weeks ago and I too used indoor/outdoor carpet glue from Lowes. However, I only used it on the flat surfaces. Anywhere there was a radius or sharp bend and on the hatch covers, I applied contact cement.

I used contact cement, about 4-5 weeks ago, seems to be holding good. You need 100% coverage though. There are a few spots that I didn't get, and you can sure see them.

thanks for the reply, the flat surfaces are the only ones coming up. maybe it isnt completely dry but the can says 48hrs. <br />im hoping it will dry and restick? meanwhile it is covered.
